Earth and Sun

Hello all! 
We finished up our short study of variables and are moving on to Earth and Sun! In this unit the students will be studying and exploring the properties of the atmosphere, energy transfer from the Sun to Earth, and the dynamics of weather and water cycling in Earth's atmosphere. Student experiences will also include developing and using models to understand Earth's place in our solar system and the interactions of Earth, the Sun and the Moon. These include patterns such as the length and direction of shadows, day and night, and the appearance of stars in the sky.  Most likely the weather will play a part in how many investigations will be completed in this unit. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate today, so we were not able to venture out and observe shadows. Fingers crossed we have some sun the next few days! This investigation also includes sun tracking and understanding day and night. Students love this unit! Here are some pictures of our STEM Paper Column Challenge. Enjoy!
