We are moving from the Sun and Earth unit to Mixtures and Solutions next week. Due to the early inclement weather, we will pick up studying the Moon and weather in the spring. Many of the lessons call for the outdoors and we unfortunately can't go outside:( To wrap up the unit for now, the students will be having a quiz over Earth's atmosphere next Tuesday. Students have their science notebooks and everything needed for the quiz. We will be reviewing in class on Monday.
Mixtures and solutions is an engaging and exciting unit! The students will love learning about how different substances dissolve or chemically react. They will experiment with mixtures, solutions of different concentrations and reactions forming new substances. Our first investigation will be separating mixtures and solutions using different tools and measuring solids and liquids to compare the mass of the mixtures. This is one of my favorite units to teach! Hopefully your children will share these experiences with you!
