We have just wrapped up our Mixtures and Solutions unit and are starting Living Systems next week! This unit has four investigations that focus on systems ranging from Earth and its subsystems which include; the geosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere and the biosphere along with ecosystems and organisms in terms of their interactions. Students will investigate and observe how each system works and explore how human activities in agriculture, industry and everyday life can have major effects on these systems. Hopefully, we'll get outside for some investigating!
STEM activities and Hour of Code will continue to be some fun extras!
I would like to take this time to refresh how the students are graded in Science this year. They will continue to use their science journals for all labs that will be kept at school unless, of course, they need it to study for a quiz or test. Almost all of their work is kept in these journals. These are graded 2-3 times per quarter. All quizzes and tests are given during and at the end of each investigation. They are more like 'check-ins" to make sure the students are understanding the importance of the main ideas and concepts.
We will be taking a field trip to the Kid's Science Lab in March and Robert Crowne Center for Health Education will be coming to Bell in May.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to send me an email.
