Block 1: While there will be adjustments made to our pacing and lesson selection for these blended math groups, the current plan for chapter 1 is to address a lesson a day. Students will have a variety of opportunities for engagement; note-taking (with scaffolds), "math on the spot video" guided problem solving, math talks and nightly homework practice that should not exceed 30 minutes.
Block 2-3: Understanding that it is the first chapter of the year which is typically a review, I know we will need to make adjustments on our pacing and routines. The current plan is to couple related lessons within the chapter to expedite the "review" and address the new content in more depth. For example the two lessons addressing place value will be done in one day while we will spend the day on the lesson (1.8) learning how to use multiplication and the distributive property to find quotients. The diversity of student learners in these two blocks will hopefully provide a challenging pace for some an opportunity to take their knowledge to the next level. Est. Quiz: 9/18-20/19 Est.
