Chapter 3

Add and Subtract Decimals: Chapter 3 of GO Math! begins with more review on place value. This is a theme for the entire year, so it spirals frequently within each of the chapters.  Decimal place values are introduced using the same language of determining the relationship between each place value (ie: 1/10 is ten times as much as 1/100 or 3/10 is one-tenth of 3). By the mid-point quiz we should be able to  compare, round and model decimals. The second half of the chapter entails place value addition and subtraction (traditional) through direct practice, sequence work, and word problems. Unlike the brief but intense quality of chapter two, chapter 3 has a total of 12 lessons that don't require as much in depth analysis.
