Add and Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators: 10 Lessons
Block 1: We will be embracing the first lessons with fractions on January 22nd. It will be a "full" week without many interruptions and I am confident we will be poised to check in with a mid-chapter check point on Tuesday, January 30th. I have been using a semi-flipped classroom model for Block 1 in certain areas such as the mid-chpt. quiz, which provides time for student to complete the quiz at home and to spend class time in reviewing solutions for a better use of our time in class together. As we begin the 3rd quarter, I anticipate spending the next 8 days on the second half of the chapter.
TEST DAY: Feb.12-15(estimate)
Block 2-4: Based on how well many of the decimal lessons have gone in the past few weeks, it is clear the students have a fundamental sense of fractions, equivalency, and the concept of "part to whole". I am planning on having the first few lessons combined to keep the review quick and engaging which will put the mid-chapter checkpoint quiz at January 26th, 2018. Looking at the calendar and all the days off-school or school-wide events, it appears we will not be able to complete the chapter until the first week into the 3rd quarter.
TEST DAY: Feb.6-8(estimate)
