Multiply Fractions: 10 Lessons
Block 1: Students will begin their study into multiplying fractions with modeling and visualizing the various types of fraction whole number and fraction by fraction products. The lessons will dig into deeper strategy skills with writing expressions, comparing mixed number fractions (and products), as well as solving for the unknown using the "guess, check & revise" method with greater consistency.

Blocks 2-4: Shifting to the algorithm of multiplying fractions versus adding and subtracting fractions is an easy transition. Students uncover that they don't need common denominators nor equivalent fractions and they simply need to multiply! Of course, it's not as simple as it sounds - so we will be exploring models to help visualize fraction products before diving further into writing expressions, area models, fractional sides, and finding the "unknown" lengths.
