Hello 5th grade mathematicians!
We have a unique challenge that I would like to re-frame as an opportunity during this unprecedented efforts to protect ourselves and our neighbors from the COVID-19. During this time away from new instruction, you will be responsible for reviewing and enriching your math skills. I like to think of it as the GREAT EQUALIZER! I've put together a chapter 7 re-teach and enrich packet for each of you. Block 1 should come prepared for a Chapter 7 Assessment - so besides completing the packet you may consider practice questions from your GO MATH books in preparation for when we return. Although blocks 2-3 have completed the chapter 7 assessment already there won't be any "new instruction" during the school closure. Your packets have enrichment practice pages and we will be starting Chpt. 8 when we return to school. I've included a PDF of the re-teach and enrich pages from Chapter 7 in google classroom. I requiring each of you to complete assignments and video activities from Khan Academy every Tuesday and Thursday as well just to keep our previous material still fresh in our minds. KA is a great resource for enrichment. Try to make a goal and complete half or more of your recommended practice on KA Mappers. If you need your NWEA scores, send me an email so I can look them up for you. Finally, make sure to create a schedule with your families for math. I recommend an hour a day. It doesn't have to be on Khan or doing math packets. Practice your math facts, make a shopping list budget, create your own flash cards with fractions, division, or math vocabulary! I'll be checking in with you periodically with Khan and on Google classroom but you are free to explore, enrich and have fun! Comments are closed.
